Truffles, No Green Tea.

My finished truffles. They are supposedly green tea truffles, but there isn't a hint of green tea to them. All I get is chocolate when I eat them. Much ramp up the green tea flavor next time.

Also, will NEVER use straight cocoa powder on the outside ever again. The bitter shock of it totally ruins the nom that follows.

Did enjoy the not-so-green-tea-y truffle with my tea yesterday morning, however.

Whoopie Pies

Just before Thanksgiving I got my first official order. Granted it was from a friend, but still. She wanted Whoopie Pies for her Thanksgiving. I got so excited to get everything ready, I forgot to take pictures of the process and of the final product. All I had left to photograph where the few that were too ugly to mail! So, here are the ugly ones. You'll just have to imagine how pretty the others were.

I remembered the photographs after I'd already packaged the pies, so here you see how nice and neat I packed everything. :)

Chocolate Cookies - End Results

My chocolate cookies came out fantastic! They were more like decadent and delicious brownie bites than I had expected. The addition of orange zest while I rolled them into balls before baking was perfect. But I love a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, so I would think that, wouldn’t I?
The cinnamon was so subtle I didn’t even realize it was there, so next time I’ll need to add a bit more. The mint… was mint. It didn’t wow me, but I wasn’t totally disappointed. Perhaps if it were straight peppermint instead of a mint blend, it would have been better.

Overall, five stars, but definitely not a child’s cookie.

Chocolate Cookies-in-the-making

Chocolate cookie dough. It's more like brownie batter at this point, but I'm experimenting. Added cinnamon to one container and mint extract to another. Would have added orange extract except SOMEbody (so totally not me) put the bottle away empty, so I didn't realize I was out.

The dough/batter is solidifying in the fridge over night. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

Any other suggested additions to make a chocolate cookie even better? Walnuts? Orange peel? What do you think?

More pictures at my tumblr page.

Molasses Cookies

Flavorful and delicious molasses cookies. Spicy, soft and not too sweet. Perfect with a glass of milk!

Cookies!

Made some GORGEOUS molasses cookies. Put the photographs up on Facebook. I'll have to get a flickr account to put them up here, too.

I love making cookies. I want to make more, but I'm stuck eating what I make until I get some customers to buy them... so sad, I know.

Logo. First Attempt.

I have my first experimental logo using origami flowers and a branch I picked up while walking a converted railroad path (6-mile walk that is!).
It's a bit stark, but I kind of like it. I'll see what else I can come up with using the photos I have and various fonts.

 Thoughts? Is it readable enough?

On Logos

So after attempting and failing to draw a lovely sakura branch, I think I'll go the slightly more labor-intensive route and make a bunch of origami sakura flowers and photograph them. ...now I just need to buy some origami paper.

Testing

We're still in the process of building this blog. I'm testing to see how everything is going.
